You want windows to be as clean as possible, no matter how old or new. You will feel happier and more connected to nature if your windows are clean, as more light comes through them. It can, however, be difficult to know how to clean windows without scratching or streaking. These are tips to help you clean your windows as if it were a professional.
Four Steps to Clean Windows without Streaking
Instructions for cleaning windowsAvoid glass cleaners containing alcohol or ammonia. Although they may appear to provide a cleaner, more thorough clean than others, these glass cleaners can cause streaks, and leave a thin layer that attracts moisture and dust. You can use acetone, rubbing alcohol or another solvent to clean a difficult area. Then wipe it off and continue cleaning your windows as usual.
However stubborn some stuck-on materials might be, you should never use any type of razor to remove them. These can leave windows vulnerable to future damage and cause permanent scratches.
When rubbing the solution, use a gentle, lint-free cloth. Microfiber cloths are ideal, but you can also use a soft and dry paper towel. To avoid streaking, rub in multiple directions
Once you’ve cleaned the stains, use clear water to clean streaks from your windows.
Different types of window cleaning solutions to use
Use a trusted brand if you plan to buy a cleaner.
A pre-mixed vinegar solution is also available. Or you can make your own using our easy window cleaning diy below.
Homemade window cleaning solution
Our favorite window cleaning trick is to make your own cleaning solution with simple white vinegar. If you do not have this product, it is easy to find. The product’s acidic formula works well to break down streaky films that may build up on windows or other glass surfaces. These are the steps to clean your windows using your homemade window cleaner: In a spray bottle, combine one part vinegar and 10 parts water.
To remove any dust, wipe the windows with a microfiber cloth, or paper towel. Spray the solution on the whole surface.
Rub the vinegar mixture onto your windows using a lint-free towel. You can use as much cleaner on your cloths or paper towels as you like, but do not apply any chemicals to wood, fiberglass, or vinyl frames. They may cause discoloration.
To dry the window, use a second cloth. To avoid streaks and quick drying, you’ll need to quickly clean your windows.
Clear water can be used to rinse any streaks that remain from cleaning.
Use vinegar to clean larger windows
You can use a mixture of vinegar and water to clean large windows. Use one part vinegar to ten parts water.
Use a sponge to dip in the bucket. The solution will then be applied to your windows. To avoid streaking, you’ll want to finish this task as fast as possible.
Use a moist squeegee to clean the solution off the windows. Wipe the glass from the top. To prevent dripping, wipe the edges of the squeegee after every swipe.
Clean windows are beautiful and look fantastic. After you’ve got a home with spotless windows it is time to clean out the remainder of the window. The frames can become stained or damaged by dirt and grime. Dirt and grime can build up on the track or other parts of your window, making it stickier or even stop functioning altogether.
Make sure to clean all other areas of your window. This will ensure that they look good and do a great job. This is part of window maintenance and care. If you aren’t confident with your cleaning abilities, it is possible to hire professionals for all your maintenance and cleaning needs.
